Gainesville’s hometown hero Deshaun Watson was honored on Feb. 26 with a road being named after him in Gainesville. The road is located at the main entrance of Gainesville High School. The unveiling of the road sign coincided with the 125th anniversary of the high school.
Deshaun Watson attended Gainesville High School and Centennial Arts Academy, located on the same property.
Watson started and played four years as quarterback for the Red Elephants and led the team to its first state championship in 2012. Watson then played for the Clemson Tigers, leading them to the 2016 National Championship.
On April 27, Watson was the 12th pick by the Houston Texans in the NFL Draft.
