For many North Georgians, Poor Richard’s in Gainesville has a special place in their heart, whether they have celebrated annual birthdays, graduations, weddings, Valentines Day or just a casual dinner; Poor Richard’s is a favorite steakhouse and meeting placeĀ in the area. And has been for almost 42 years!
“Poor Richard’s is a place that I have been to for birthdays, for dates, for anniversaries, for special occasions of all kinds, after weddings, after graduations and many times just to spend time with great people enjoying a fantastic meal,” said Abernathy Cochran’s Brad Abernathy. “It is the favorite local restaurant of my in-laws when they are in town. It was my father’s favorite restaurant. They serve some of the best food in our community. I grew up going to Poor Richard’s. My family loves this place and you will, too.”
On April 4, 2017, Poor Richard’s owners Richard and Bonnie LeCain celebrated their 40th anniversary with customers that have supported the local steak house since 1977.
Poor Richard’s is famous for steaks, Hot Bacon Dressing on their fresh salads, bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops, the cheesy French onion soup and much more.
Faithful diners can choose two dining options, the upstairs dining room or the more casual lounge on the lower level of the restaurant. The lounge has a full bar, TVs and cozy seating.
