Meet Adam Miller! Adam Miller is a teacher, cross country and baseball coach at Gainesville High School. He has lived and worked in Gainesville for 15 years now. He grew up in Dublin, and met his wife, Leslie at the University of Georgia. He and Leslie have two children; Ben (11) and Ellie (8).
Adam said that one thing on his bucket list is to visit all Major League Baseball stadiums in the United States.
We want to thank Coach Miller for taking the time to share with us more about his life and love of Hall County.
Question: What inspired or led you to your current career?
Answer: “Growing up I had lots of coaches that took care of me and I feel like I learned from that desire to help kids and to do what my teachers and coaches did for me so I took the opportunity to help kids and work with kids all day, which is fun.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County and why?
A: “Just working at the school you see so many people it would be hard to narrow it down to one, seems like almost every single day something happens that a kid or adult within the building on campus sticks out as interesting.”
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A:  “I mean, I will say that one thing that sticks out is Christmas, because most of my family would come in from out of town and that was the only time of the year I would really get to see them.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A:“Just a beach anywhere, I’m not picky.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “‘Rocky III’.”
Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A: “To get uncomfortable, to me that’s where real growth takes place, when you get out of your comfort zone and try something new that doesn’t feel normal, that’s usually when good stuff happens.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I think I’d like to go to all 30 major league baseball parks.”
Q: What is your favorite music/three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “I definitely like country music like, Zac Brown band, Eric Church, and Johnny Cash.”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County and why?
A: “I’d say not being here that long it’s hard to be nostalgic, but Turnstile Deli on the square.”
Q: Choosing anyone (past or present and a non-relative), with whom would you love to have lunch?
A: “I’d go with Babe Ruth and President George W. Bush to Mellow Mushroom.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “I love the location, I mean it’s convenient to Athens, Atlanta, to the mountains, great location, great weather most of the time, and great people who support the community.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I played the trumpet in the elementary school band and occupied last chair.”
Q: What three words mean “Home” to you?
A: “Family, laughter and love.”
