Meet Andi Harmon! Andi is the vice president of education and leadership at the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. She is originally from Hartwell and moved to Gainesville in the 90s.
Andi has one daughter, Kenzi, who is a middle schooler at Chestatee Academy.
Andi attended the University of North Georgia and majored in Parks and Recreation. She even was a park ranger at one point in her life, as was her father and brother.
Andi said she loves Hall County because “…of the small town atmosphere and how everyone is so connected and supportive yet you have so much access to the world, right at home.”
We want to thank Andi for sitting down with us recently and telling us more about her life and love of Hall County.
Question: What led you to your current career?
Answer: “I worked in parks and recreation for 20 years…then I worked at Gainesville Parks and Recreation for 13 years and have been with the chamber for two years. I am the vice president of education and leadership and I teach Youth and Adult Leadership Hall, Medical Scholars and Partners in Education.”
Q: Who is one of the most interesting people that you have met in Hall County?
A: “There are so many people, my job affords me to met so many great people from all over and so, there are some fascinating people that you come in contact with.”
Q: What is the first movie that you remember seeing in the theater?
A: “‘Fantasia’ or ‘E.T.'”
Q: What is one of your favorite childhood memories?
A: “I grew up on a dairy farm and I love being outdoors, being with animals and family. I had a great childhood, playing outside on the farm with my brother and sister and our extended family and it didn’t get much better than that. I grew up in a small town, so my world was very small.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “I love the small town atmosphere and how everyone is so connected and supportive yet you have so much access to the world at home.”
Q: What is something that the chamber is involved with that you would want people to know about?
A: “I would say the ICF Dragon Boat World Championship (Sept. 12-16 at Lake Lanier Olympic Venue) it’s going to be twice the size of the Olympics and I don’t think a lot of people realize that. It’s a chance to have exposure to all of these different cultures right in our backyard. What better way to get your kids exposed to that kind of competition and culture?”
Q: What three words mean HOME to you?
A: “Family, Love, God.”
