Meet Jeremy Williams! Jeremy is the new superintendent of the Gainesville City School district. Jeremy and his wife, Jenny and two children; Molly, 9 and Rhett, 5 moved to Gainesville four months ago and love being a part of the Gainesville community.
“When the position opened up I just felt like it was the right calling for me to be here,” Jeremy said.
We recently caught up with Jeremy to talk more about his life and love of Hall County.
Question: What inspired or led you to your current career?
Answer: “I was lead to be the Gainesville City School superintendent because Gainesville has an opportunity not many school districts have in Georgia; and that is diversity. Looking at our diversity and the opportunities our students have to be successful, who wouldn’t want to be here in Gainesville.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you have met in Hall County?
A: “All of our students. When I look at our students and just the background they bring to the table, it’s something they need to be very proud.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And Why?
A: “I have always wanted to go to the British Isles, just to go back and trace the family heritage, lineage, crest and castles.”
Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A: “Support our future, invest in the lives of other people. When you look at where we are as a society, we got here because people invested in our lives and I think it is important that we preach that same message.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I grew up as a big fan of baseball and so if I could get to see all the stadiums.”
Q: What is your favorite music and what three bands you would like to see dead or alive?
A: “I have listened to every music genre there is and still do, but if I had to choose one person to see it would be Elvis. My wife loves Elvis and I would have loved getting to experience seeing him together.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “The people, I love how Hall County has thousands of people and yet we’re still a community.”
Q: Even for friends or family, what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “This goes back to when I was in high school, when I won the Wendy’s High School Heisman for community involvement, athletics and academics.”
Q: What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “Molly, Rhett, and Jenny. Jenny is my wife, Molly is my oldest, and Rhett is my youngest.”
Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? Where in Hall County would you have lunch?
A: “I would choose to have lunch with my grandparents, by the time I was 17 or 18 all of my grandparents has past away. Just to eat with them one more time would be really special, and we would, of course, eat at Longstreet.”
