John BreakfieldI believe I can make a difference in Hall County. I want to do THIS job. It’s not about me; it’s not a personal career goal. I want to make a difference. My goal in life is to drop my kids off every morning and be with them before bed, everything else in between takes care of itself. It’s about the community first, and then how I fit into that community.”
This was John Breakfield’s answer when he was asked what the future holds.
The State Court Judge Candidate is a family man, is dedicated to helping the Hall County Community, and learned at the young age of 16 when he had a job washing dishes that “you don’t leave until the job is done”. He knows the value of hard work. He was a manager for Taco Bell for 3 years before going on to Mercer to get his Law Degree.
Recently, we asked John a few questions about his life, likes and interests to share with fellow members of our community
Question: If you could only eat at one place for an entire week in Hall County, where would it be?
Answer: “El Sombrero, and if you ask some of my lunch friends they would tell you that I have done this.”
Q: What is your profession?
A: “Lawyer and candidate for State Court Judge. I practice ‘street’ law. People literally walk in off the street with real problems that they need help with.” John also does a lot of mediation and is a city court Solicitor.
Q: How long have you lived in Hall County?
A: “Eleven years or so.”
Q: What is your favorite song?
A: “’Hold My Hand’ by Hootie and the Blowfish. It was mine and my wife’s song in college and the song we had our first dance to at our wedding.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
A: “Honestly, to my house to do laundry.” And of course we both laughed. “We are home bodies. We enjoy Hall County and the Metro Atlanta Area or maybe Disney World with the kids.”
Q: When have you felt the most satisfied in your life?
A: “Right now. Everything has led to this moment.”
Q: What is your favorite social outing in Hall County?
A: “Coaching kids sports, flag football and soccer. We watch college sports and its great and the athletes are very talented but watching my kids play pee-wee sports is so exciting.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “The community aspect. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. It’s a great place to raise kids; we have Lake Lanier and all of the recreation.”
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: “’Saving Private Ryan.’ I watched it on Memorial Day when my son was about nine months old and it really puts the sacrifice that was made into perspective when you have children.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Ben Hogan said it first, ‘Golf is a game of luck. The harder I work, the luckier I get.’ I think that’s true in life.”
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone, non-relative, who would it be?
A: “George Washington.”

  • Why? “He was there during the formation of our country. He didn’t sit by and watch. He participated in making it happen.”
  • Where would you have lunch locally with George Washington? “El Sombrero.”
  • If lunch cancelled, where would you take him to dinner? “Antebellum.”
