Just a short drive from downtown Gainesville is Mountain Fresh Creamery. Located in Clermont off of Cleveland Highway, the creamery specializes in delicious homemade ice cream, milkshakes, butter and fresh milk.
The creamery, which opened in 2011, is owned by Scott and Jennifer Glover and is unique compared to others because everything is all natural, non-homogenized dairy products with no added hormones or rBST along with being low temp pasteurized and being non-homogenized.
“I am a fourth generation dairy farmer and have always been passionate about dairy cows, taking care of cows, and the dairy industry. I spent a lot of time working on my grandfather’s dairy farm and I just knew that this is what I wanted to do.”
Scott and Jennifer also own the Glo-Crest dairy farm which produces all the milk for the creamery, keeping the products free of added hormones and antibiotics.
Each day, the creamery milks 210 cows twice a day, one at 9 in the morning and once at 9 in the evening. Two hundred gallons are produced at the creamery weekly and about 150 gallons of ice cream.
The Glo-Crest dairy farm produces milk that is bottled as well as the milk used in the products for the creamery. In 2011, the creamery began bottling whole milk, low fat milk, chocolate milk and buttermilk and is now producing award winning bottled milk.
Mountain Fresh Creamery is great for any family day, quick ice cream trip, or field trip. The creamery offers farm tours for every member of the family to enjoy and learn how the cows are taken care of and how the milk is processed for premium taste.
Mountain Fresh Creamery is located at 6615 Cleveland Highway and is open from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 p.m.- 6 p.m. on Sundays.
