Flowery Branch has enjoyed Growlers on Main for several years and now Gainesville boasts Tap It Growler Filling Station, that opened in October of 2014.
The unassuming landscaping retail store on Thompson Bridge Road converted half of the building to serve up 30 different craft brews, wine, growler fills and samples; along with hard to find craft beer in 6 or 12 packs.
Now, are you wondering what exactly a growler is? A growler is a 32 or 64 oz. container of beer. The brews stay bubbly for 3 days in the growler and are a great way to try new beers that you normally wouldn’t find in stores.

Since opening the growler filling station the trio has been featured by Explore Georgia in several blogs promoting tourism in the Gainesville area.
If you want to check out Tap It and pick up a few craft brews to take home, just head over to the store and you can sample three beers and make your selection. The beer selection changes almost daily and features many local Georgia breweries like Sweetwater Brewery, Creature Comforts, Jeykll Brewing and Jailhouse Brewing; among others.
The growlers are $5 each on the first visit and then you just return them for a refill. Prices on filling the growlers vary from around $8 to $30. And every day you are able to purchase tasting flights for $5!
Tap It Gainesville Growlers is located at 1850 Thompson Bridge Rd. in Gainesville. They are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday. www.tapitgrowler.com.
